Description

A light and bright berry trifle made with layers of sponge cake, fresh berries, custard, and whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed berries
  • 1 cup custard
  • 4 slices sponge cake
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons sherry
  • Optional sugar to taste


Instructions

  1. Cut the sponge cake into cubes and optionally soak with sherry.
  2. Layer sponge cake, berries, custard, and whipped cream in a trifle bowl.
  3. Repeat layers until the bowl is filled, ending with whipped cream on top.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use firm berries to prevent them from turning to juice quickly. Keep the whipped cream cold until it’s time to use it.
