A delightful Christmas bread with a moist texture, sweet flavor, and colorful sprinkles, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour (210g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk (240ml)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup red and green sprinkles (jimmies style)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional topping)
- Additional sprinkles for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line or grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugar together until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and buttermilk.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the sprinkles, making sure not to overmix the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. If desired, sprinkle coarse sugar or additional sprinkles on top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
