Description

Delightful cookies that combine the sweet and nostalgic flavors of cotton candy, perfect for celebrations and special treats.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk (or 1/4 cup milk mixed with 1 teaspoon lemon juice or vinegar)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (pink and blue)
  • Cotton candy flavoring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into two equal parts, color one with pink gel food coloring and the other with blue.
  7. Take small pieces of each color, roll them together to create a marbled effect, shape into balls, and place on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For vibrant colors, use gel food coloring. Adjust cotton candy flavoring to taste.
