Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup buttermilk (or 1/4 cup milk mixed with 1 teaspoon lemon juice or vinegar)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (pink and blue)
- Cotton candy flavoring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts, color one with pink gel food coloring and the other with blue.
- Take small pieces of each color, roll them together to create a marbled effect, shape into balls, and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For vibrant colors, use gel food coloring. Adjust cotton candy flavoring to taste.
