Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a cake pan.
- Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, stirring in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Fold in the caramel sauce and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool, then drizzle additional caramel sauce on top before serving.
Notes
Use room temperature eggs and butter. Do not over mix the batter. Fold the nuts in by hand for good texture. Warm the caramel if it is stiff for easier mixing.
