Description

Soft Maple Sugar Cookies are a delightful treat combining the rich flavor of maple syrup with a soft and chewy texture. Perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp maple extract
  • A pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Scoop the dough into small balls and place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
  9. For the icing, whisk the powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, maple extract, and salt until smooth. Drizzle icing over the cooled cookies and let it set before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the dough chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes before baking. Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier creaming with sugar. Don’t overbake the cookies; they will continue to cook while cooling.
