Description

A festive and delicious cake perfect for Halloween celebrations, featuring vibrant colors and playful decorations.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Food coloring (black, orange)
  • Decorative Halloween toppers (ghosts, pumpkins, spiders)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth. Divide the batter into two bowls and add black food coloring to one and orange to the other.
  5. Pour the batters alternately into the prepared pans, creating a swirl effect.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  7. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting and decorating with Halloween toppers.

Notes

Be careful with food coloring; a little goes a long way. Use a knife or toothpick to create more patterns in the batter before baking.
