Description

A light, no-bake cake made with layers of angel food cake, fresh berries, and creamy vanilla pudding.

Ingredients

  • 1 prepared angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 can (21 oz) pie filling or fruit topping (optional: strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1½ cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)
  • Caramel or berry sauce for drizzle
  • Extra berries and whipped cream swirls for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk pudding mix with cold milk until thick.
  2. Stir in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the angel food cake cubes, half the berries, and half the pudding mixture.
  4. Repeat the layers.
  5. Spread whipped topping over the final layer and drizzle caramel or berry sauce on top.
  6. Add fresh berries and extra whipped cream swirls.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 120 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend beautifully.

Notes

For a less sweet version, substitute plain yogurt for sour cream.
