Description
A light, no-bake cake made with layers of angel food cake, fresh berries, and creamy vanilla pudding.
Ingredients
- 1 prepared angel food cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 can (21 oz) pie filling or fruit topping (optional: strawberry or cherry)
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1½ cups cold milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)
- Caramel or berry sauce for drizzle
- Extra berries and whipped cream swirls for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk pudding mix with cold milk until thick.
- Stir in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
- In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the angel food cake cubes, half the berries, and half the pudding mixture.
- Repeat the layers.
- Spread whipped topping over the final layer and drizzle caramel or berry sauce on top.
- Add fresh berries and extra whipped cream swirls.
- Refrigerate for at least 120 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend beautifully.
Notes
For a less sweet version, substitute plain yogurt for sour cream.
