Description

Delicious red velvet cookies topped with a sweet Hershey chocolate kiss, perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted, softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey chocolate kisses


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth.
  3. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; mix until combined.
  4. Mix in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until the flour is just incorporated.
  5. Scoop 18 equal cookie dough balls, roll them in red sanding sugar, and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Press a Hershey chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie immediately after pulling out of the oven.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Best served warm with milk or hot cocoa. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
