Description

Homemade Slice and Bake Christmas Cookies are easy to make, fun to customize, and perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Sprinkles or chocolate chips for customization

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and powdered sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, along with the vanilla and almond extracts.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Divide the dough into portions and shape into logs.
  6. Roll the logs in sprinkles or chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Slice the chilled logs into cookies and place on baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  11. Let the cookies cool before serving.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture. Chill the dough logs well to ensure they slice easily and hold their shape while baking.
