Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- Buttercream frosting for decoration
- Handcrafted flowers for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the cake with buttercream and decorate with handcrafted flowers.
