A delightful recipe for soft sugar cookies topped with a creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup sour cream
- 3 cups flour
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, beat 1 cup soft butter with 1 cup sugar until light.
- Add 2 eggs and ½ teaspoon vanilla. Mix well.
- Stir in ½ cup sour cream.
- In another bowl, mix 3 cups flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
- Add dry mix to wet mix. Stir until you have a soft dough.
- Roll dough into balls or press flat on a sheet. Place on a cookie pan.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until the edges look set but the center stays soft. Let the cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes, then move to a rack.
- To make the frosting, beat ½ cup soft butter with 4 oz. cream cheese until smooth.
- Add 3 ½ cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting on cooled cookies. Let set a bit before you eat.
Notes
Cookies stay soft for days. Can be stored in the fridge for 4–5 days or frozen without frosting for up to 2 months.
