Description

A delightful recipe for soft sugar cookies topped with a creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, beat 1 cup soft butter with 1 cup sugar until light.
  3. Add 2 eggs and ½ teaspoon vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Stir in ½ cup sour cream.
  5. In another bowl, mix 3 cups flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  6. Add dry mix to wet mix. Stir until you have a soft dough.
  7. Roll dough into balls or press flat on a sheet. Place on a cookie pan.
  8. Bake 8–10 minutes until the edges look set but the center stays soft. Let the cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes, then move to a rack.
  9. To make the frosting, beat ½ cup soft butter with 4 oz. cream cheese until smooth.
  10. Add 3 ½ cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy.
  11. Spread the cream cheese frosting on cooled cookies. Let set a bit before you eat.

Notes

Cookies stay soft for days. Can be stored in the fridge for 4–5 days or frozen without frosting for up to 2 months.
