Description
A warm, rich drink combining strong coffee, milk, chocolate, and peppermint with a splash of liquor for a cozy treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup hot strong coffee
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant)
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 to 2 oz coffee liqueur or dark rum (to taste)
- Whipped cream or milk foam to top
- Crushed candy cane or chocolate shavings to finish
- Optional: 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Brew one strong cup of coffee and keep it hot.
- In a small pot, warm the milk on low heat. Do not boil.
- Whisk cocoa and sugar with a few tablespoons of the warm milk to make a smooth paste.
- Add the paste back to the pot and warm until the milk is hot and smooth.
- Stir in the peppermint extract and vanilla. Taste and add more if you like.
- Pour the hot coffee into a large mug. Add the chocolate milk and stir.
- Add the liqueur or rum and stir once.
- Top with whipped cream or foam. Sprinkle with crushed candy cane or chocolate shavings.
Notes
Best served hot with a festive touch. Pair with baked goods for a cozy experience.
