Description

A rich chocolate roll that resembles a log, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Chocolate shavings or festive decorations (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, then fold in the melted butter.
  5. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched.
  7. Allow the cake to cool slightly before rolling it up in the parchment paper.
  8. While the cake cools, make the chocolate ganache by heating the heavy cream until just boiling, then pour it over the chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  9. Unroll the cooled cake and spread a layer of ganache over it. Roll the cake back up and place it seam-side down.
  10. Frost the outside with remaining ganache and decorate with powdered sugar, shavings, or festive touches.
  11. Slice and serve, enjoying your Yule Log!

Notes

For serving, dust with powdered sugar for a snowy look and consider adding small decorative touches.
