Description
A rich chocolate roll that resembles a log, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Chocolate shavings or festive decorations (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, then fold in the melted butter.
- Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before rolling it up in the parchment paper.
- While the cake cools, make the chocolate ganache by heating the heavy cream until just boiling, then pour it over the chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth.
- Unroll the cooled cake and spread a layer of ganache over it. Roll the cake back up and place it seam-side down.
- Frost the outside with remaining ganache and decorate with powdered sugar, shavings, or festive touches.
- Slice and serve, enjoying your Yule Log!
