A delicious cake that combines rich chocolate, soft caramel, and crisp toffee for a delightful treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients; mix until well combined.
- Carefully stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and allow to cool completely on wire racks.
- For the frosting, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread caramel sauce on one layer, followed by toffee bits.
- Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the whipped cream mixture.
- Decorate with additional toffee bits and drizzle with more caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. Add toffee right before serving to maintain crunch.
