Description

Delightful heart-shaped cookies perfect for Valentine’s Day, easy to make and decorate with sprinkles.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • Red food coloring (natural, if preferred)
  • Sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half; tint one half with red food coloring.
  6. Roll dough into logs and chill until firm.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Slice the chilled logs into heart shapes and place on baking sheets.
  9. Add sprinkles on top, if desired.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier mixing. Chill dough for easier slicing.
