Description

A delightful light and fluffy cake flavored with rich almond extract, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 Box White Cake Mix (Duncan Hines)
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 4 Egg Whites (Room Temperature)
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Almond Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 345°F. Prepare (4) 6 inch cake pans or (3) 8 inch cake pans with baking spray or parchment paper rounds.
  2. Microwave the butter until completely melted and set aside.
  3. Measure sour cream and milk into a small bowl, warm in the microwave if needed.
  4. If necessary, bring egg whites to room temperature by soaking whole eggs in warm water for 5-10 minutes.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cake mix, and salt.
  6. Add all other ingredients to the dry mixture.
  7. Use an electric hand mixer to combine until smooth and fluffy (1-2 minutes).
  8. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 30-32 minutes for 6 inch pans, or 28-30 minutes for 8 inch pans. Check doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Let cakes cool in pans for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
