Description

A timeless classic wedding cake with a light, fluffy texture and fragrant almond flavor, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add almond and vanilla extracts.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer almond flavor, consider adding a little more almond extract. Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
