Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add almond and vanilla extracts.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For a richer almond flavor, consider adding a little more almond extract. Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
