Description

A festive Yule Log Cake that resembles a wooden log, filled with cream and covered in chocolate ganache, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup chocolate ganache (for covering)
  • Chocolate shavings (for decoration)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 15×10 inch jelly roll pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Stir in the vanilla and water.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones.
  6. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Once baked, let it cool slightly, then invert onto a kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
  8. Roll it up with the towel and set aside to cool completely.
  9. While cooling, whip cream with powdered sugar to make filling.
  10. Unroll the cake, spread filling, and roll back up.
  11. Cover with chocolate ganache and decorate with chocolate shavings to resemble a log.
  12. Chill until set and serve during the holidays.

Notes

Tips: Beat the eggs and sugar well for lift. Dust the towel with powdered sugar to prevent sticking. Roll while warm and chill before cutting for clean slices.
