Description
A festive Yule Log Cake that resembles a wooden log, filled with cream and covered in chocolate ganache, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup chocolate ganache (for covering)
- Chocolate shavings (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 15×10 inch jelly roll pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until fluffy.
- Stir in the vanilla and water.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones.
- Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Once baked, let it cool slightly, then invert onto a kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Roll it up with the towel and set aside to cool completely.
- While cooling, whip cream with powdered sugar to make filling.
- Unroll the cake, spread filling, and roll back up.
- Cover with chocolate ganache and decorate with chocolate shavings to resemble a log.
- Chill until set and serve during the holidays.
Notes
Tips: Beat the eggs and sugar well for lift. Dust the towel with powdered sugar to prevent sticking. Roll while warm and chill before cutting for clean slices.
